This is to keep you informed that the Club will remain closed for all regular activities between 08a.m. & 06.30p.m. on 03rd (Friday), 04th (Saturday) & 05th (Sunday) of April 2026 due to the Annual Thurstan - Isipathana Cricket Encounter, being held on our grounds.

We therefore, kindly request of our members who would be using the sports / recreational facilities of the Club on the dates mentioned above, to leave the premises (& move your vehicles out) by 08a.m. each day, allowing the match-related activities to go on until 06.30p.m., after which time you would be able to enter the premises.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) & Information

What is the SSC School of Swimming (SoS)?

The SSC School of Swimming (SoS) is an initiative of the SSC Swimming House Committee, established under the guidance of the SSC Executive Committee. Its objectives are to encourage greater utilization of the swimming pool facilities, increase revenue, and promote swimming as a sport to a wider population.

What programs are offered at the SSC SoS?

Currently, the SSC School of Swimming offers a single package comprising 6 lessons of 45 minutes each. The package is available to both SSC members and non-members upon payment of Rs. 6,000/- and registration at the SSC Reception.

What is the validity period of the lesson package?

Lessons are valid for 1 month, commencing from the date of registration (as indicated on the attendance card) and ending on the corresponding date of the following month, inclusive of both dates. Any unused lessons remaining after the expiry date will lapse and are non-refundable.

Attendance for each lesson is recorded on the attendance card issued by the Club at the time of registration. Once all lessons have been utilized or the validity period has expired, the student may purchase a new package if they wish to continue their lessons.

How does coaching and coach allocation work?

At registration, each student has the option to select 1 SoS coach for the duration of the package, based on the schedule, age, skills, and personal preference.

Definitions & Rules

1. School of Swimming Student: Any person, regardless of age, who has registered and paid for coaching at the SSC School of Swimming and holds remaining, unexpired lessons.
2. A Lesson: Each lesson consists of 45 minutes of pool coaching. For safety reasons, lessons are limited to a maximum of 6 students per coach. Students are expected to arrive 15 minutes prior to the lesson to purchase a guest ticket (if applicable), change, shower, and report to the pool on time.
3. Pool Guest Ticket: Each SoS Student must purchase a Guest Ticket from the Club Reception upon arrival for their lesson. This is separate from the lesson package fee. Guest ticket prices may vary between peak and off-peak hours; however, swimming school sessions are generally scheduled during off-peak times. One guest ticket is valid for one lesson only.
4. SSC School of Swimming Coach: A professional authorized by the SSC Swimming House Committee and assigned to the SSC School of Swimming. Please note that not all SSC coaches are assigned to the School of Swimming coaching program.
5. Guardians: Only SoS students under the age of 18 may be accompanied by an adult guardian during lessons. Provided the guardian remains within the SSC Pool area and does not use the pool facilities, no guest ticket is required for them.
6. Vehicle Parking: No vehicle parking is allocated inside the SSC premises for non-member students. Please utilize the public street parking outside the club.
7. SSC Swimming-Member: Standard SSC Club membership does not automatically include swimming section access. Only SSC members who have additionally paid the swimming sector activity fees are considered "Swimming-Members" and are exempted from the pool guest ticket.
